Nebývalé množství srážek v jihozápadním Japonsku (ostrov Kjúšú) způsobilo povodně a sesuvy půdy.
Nejhorší deště byly v prefektuře Minamiaso Kumamoto. Meteorologická agentura varovala, že silné deště až okolo 70 milimetrů za hodinu, by mohly zasáhnout severní Kyushu již od časných ranních hodinách pátku místního času. To bylo zaznamenalo 507 mm (20 palců) dešťových srážek za 24 hodin.
