Globální oteplování a klimatické změny k velkému překvapení ekologů způsobují, že nejvyšší hora Evropy Mont Blanc roste. ýška i mohutnost Mont Blanku se znatelně zvětšila, protože ve vrcholových partiích se za poslední dva roky nahromadilo velké množství sněhu a ledu.Podle nejnovějších měření francouzských badatelů objem sněhu a ledu okolo vrcholku velehory vzrostl na dvojnásobek a dosahuje asi 24 tisíc kubických metrů.
