Vůbec nejsilnější otřesy dnes dopoledne zažila jediná seismicky aktivní lokalita naší republiky. Chebsko se otřáslo silou, která pravděpodobně přesáhne čtvrtý stupeň Richterovy škály. Epicentrum otřesů bylo opět u Nového Kostela na Chebsku. Podobná seismická aktivita se opakovala na Chebsku  v zimních měsících let 1985 a 1986. Tehdejší otřesy měly sílu 4,6 Richterovy stupnice a způsobily menší materiální škody na domech.
